Stray cat wondered into our house, but there is a man claiming to have lost this cat?

Did he say how long it had been missing for? It could have been locked in somewhere. Did he say anything to suggest that it was having treatment for something? Perhaps it escaped and he needs to give it medication. I would get the cat seen by a vet asap.
